Avoid non-essential travel
Restrictions on non-essential travel between the U.S. and Canada are still in place. All travellers returning from outside of Canada need to self-isolate for 14 days.
Have guests from out of town?
If you have relatives or friends travelling to Canada to celebrate the holidays with you, please remember that they are required to quarantine for 14 days. See Government of Canada website on travellers entering Canada.
Follow gathering size limits.
Smaller, outdoor gatherings are safer than indoors. Reserve close contact to members of your household and essential supports, and keep a physical distance and wear a mask from everyone else.
We have a great idea for you for gathering. We suggest you to host a virtual event to include family and friends from out-of-town and anyone who is feeling unwell.
This year, please avoid buffet style food service. Instead, serve food on individual plates to avoid passing and touching items. For more information, please visit toronto.ca/covid19 Effective on Sept 19, only 10 people can gather indoors and 25 people can gather outdoors. Wear a mask (be sure to cover both your nose and mouth) and Social distance (2 metres) with those not in your household.
COVID-19 testing is available now only by appointment. More info at Ontario.ca/covidtest Effective on Wednesday, October 7, only essential visitors may visit some of the long-term care homes identified on the list found at Ontario.ca Effective on October 3, new public health measures are in place for Ottawa, Peel and Toronto for gyms, banquet halls, and bars and restaurants.
If you organize a gathering at your home that exceeds the size limit, you could face a fine of $10,000. The safest Thanksgiving celebration is with your immediate household. Stay safe!
