Community ASL

Community ASL is all about raising awareness and elevating accessibility —by teaching ASL and sharing what it means to be part of the Deaf community. It’s about making real connections and creating more inclusive spaces for everyone.

Through in-person or virtual workshops, presentations, lessons, local events, and partnerships with organizations, Community ASL fosters language learning, cultural understanding, and meaningful connection with the Deaf community.

We offer flexible options to meet your unique goals. Let’s connect and create your very own opportunity to discover the richness of ASL and the vibrant Deaf community with the goal of building and expanding your knowledge at your pace and learning style!

Possible opportunities:

  • Classes
Creating your own customized ASL lessons designed for your organization’s needs, such as learning signs specific to your workplace (i.e. for paramedics, lifeguards, personal support workers, early childhood educators, etc.)
  • Consultation
Collaborating with local schools, libraries, community centres, and organizations to expand the reach of the Deaf community and ASL programs and events.
  • Events
Organizing or participating in events like ASL storytelling, and cultural festivals can create opportunities for language practice and cultural exchange.
  • Panels
By sharing Deaf people’s stories and our organization’s work, we raise awareness about ASL, the challenges the community faces, and their cultural, language, and community needs.
  • Workshops/Presentations
Introducing ASL, Deaf culture, the Deaf community, accessibility, and related topics can help promote inclusivity.
